CAS confirmed the decision of FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber regarding FC Trakai’s claim against Maxim Maximov and FC Vardar for compensation for premature termination of the contract. The Player`s suspension and FC Vardar`s transfer ban are restored
On 28 May 2020, CAS delivered an award regarding the appeal of Maxim Maximov against the decision of the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber, fully dismissing the Player`s appeal and confirming the FIFA DRC`s decision. Let us recall that on 11 April 2019, the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber rendered a high-impact decision on the claim of the Lithuanian club FC Trakai (from February 2019 – FC Riteriai) against the football player Maxim Maximov (Russia) and FC Vardar (Macedonia) for compensation for premature termination of the employment contract. FIFA DRC accepted the claim of FС Trakai to order the football player and the Macedonian club to pay compensation, and applied sporting sanctions to the respondents for unlawful termination and inducement to terminate the contract in the form of a four-month suspension on Maximov and ban from registering new players during two registration periods on FС Vardar.
SILA International Lawyers represented FC Trakai in all instances of the mentioned dispute.
