The Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS) partially upheld the appeal of the Table Tennis Federation of Russia (TTFR) against the suspension of athletes and other measures taken by the decision of the European Table Tennis Union (ETTU)

At the beginning of March 2022, the ETTU decided not to invite Russian athletes, officials to competitions organized under the auspices of the ETTU, banned the national symbols (flag, anthem) of the Russian Federation, and suspended Russian clubs from the current season of the European Table Tennis Champions League 2021-2022.

In early June 2024, the CAS partially granted the appeal of the Table Tennis Federation of Russia (TTFR):
• CAS overturned the decision of the ETTU not to invite Russian athletes and officials to competitions organized by the ETTU;
• CAS recognized the ETTU’s disqualification of clubs for the 2021-2022 season as unlawful;
• CAS upheld the decision of the ETTU to ban the national flag, symbols and anthem.

At the moment, only the operative part of the CAS award has been received, the parties are yet to receive the full CAS award.

SILA International Lawyers represented TTFR in the proceedings before the CAS.
