The Russian clubs “Fakel Gazprom” and “UMMC” have been reinstated in the European Champions League 2021-2022 among table tennis teams
On March 3, 2022, the Executive Board of the European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) suspended “Fakel Gazprom” and “UMMC” from further participation in the European Champions League 2021-2022, the teams had to play a semi-final between themselves. Thus, the German team “Borussia” Dusseldorf was declared the winner of the competition, having won the other semi-final.
By the decision of the ETTU Board of Appeal of April 27, 2022, Russian clubs were reinstated in the European Champions League 2021-2022, and the ETTU Executive Board decision dated March 3, 2022, was recognized as discriminatory.
SILA International Lawyers represented Russian clubs in proceedings before the ETTU Board of Appeal.
