The Swedish player Valmir Berisha won a dispute against KF Llapi (Kosovo) in the Court of Arbitration for Sport

Following FIFA, CAS ruled that the player had terminated employment contract with just cause. Thus, the club is obliged to pay to the player the compensation for breach of contract and to repay the salary debt, including the sign-on fee.

Also, we successfully proved the “international nature” of this dispute and FIFA’s competence to resolve it.
KF Llapi insisted that the player’s dual citizenship (Swedish and Kosovar) and the formal inclusion of his Kosovar ID number in the contract made the dispute “domestic”. However, FIFA and CAS found our arguments more compelling and took into account the matches of Mr. Berisha for the Swedish national teams and his registration as a Swedish citizen with other clubs.
