Maslow psychology. The essence and principles of Maslow's theory

Back in school, in social studies, we come across the concept of "Maslow's pyramid", but we are not told that they dedicate us only to a small part of the psychology developed by Maslow. We are not told about his humanistic ideas, we are not told about his contacts with Rogers (the founder of humanism). But if you are curious and interested, then the information provided should interest you.To begin with, let's consider humanism as a direction in psychology. In humanism, in principle, the main value is a person. Humanist psychologists believe that a person is initially a blank slate, on which, through the stimuli sent, important information for a person in the future is applied.Let's also recall the notorious Maslow pyramid. It is based on physiological needs, such as food, sleep, sex, and drinking. At the next level - the need for security, to be protected from illness, adversity, evil people. Then there are social needs, such as friendship, mutual understanding, love. The next need in the psychology developed by Maslow is the need for respect, self-respect and respect by others. And the highest need is the need for self-realization, that is, for spiritual growth and self-improvement. What is important, without realizing the baser needs, it is difficult for us to realize the higher needs, since the lower ones are more vital. What is especially funny is that the pyramid so well-known to us was not drawn by Maslow, everything was depicted later by his students, after the death of the psychologist, and in reality all the data were recorded in his writings.Maslow, on the other hand, regarded the human individual as a single, organized whole. Human nature, according to the humanist psychologist, is neutral (as I said above, a person is a blank slate). And aggression and destruction are only a consequence of satisfied needs, and are not caused by the influence of innate vices of humanity, so, remember, during hunger, lack of sleep or poor health, we become more aggressive and unpleasant personalities than we really are. And initially, we all have the opportunity to develop in a positive way.And briefly about one more fact from Maslow's psychology. He believed that it was impossible to understand psychological illness until mental health was sufficiently studied. How often do we think that we know something about people, that we know about their greatest achievements, but in reality it turns out that we can't tell so much about what this person really did once. Do not be afraid of self-improvement, but also do not forget about the importance of the lower levels for your well-being and the well-being of your loved ones. Самые дешёвые авиабилеты
